The North Fork Crow River Watershed District is accepting applications to fill the position of Seasonal Intern. This is a paid, part-time or full-time position for the summer of 2026.  Preferred candidates will be college students studying environmental-related subjects. The intern will assist in lake and stream monitoring, public outreach and planning, project implementation and inspections, data entry and analysis as well as other activities within the North Fork Crow River Watershed District. This is a great opportunity for people interested in the environmental and water resources fields to gain valuable experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

45% Monitoring

• Assist staff in collecting water samples and data on lakes and streams

• Operate essential water monitoring equipment

• Prepare water samples for shipment

• Record, compile and input data into monitoring database

• Transport and install water monitoring equipment

• Assist with the coordination and supervision of water monitoring volunteers

10% Education/Outreach

• Assist with educational presentations or workshops

• Assist with the preparation of reports and publications as requested

• Create social media posts weekly to promote environmental practices

25% Ditches

• Assist Ditch Inspector with inspection, survey work and data compiling

• Assist with map and file management

20% Miscellaneous Duties

• Assist staff with the preparation and installation of BMP projects

• Attend meetings, conferences and workshops on water quality practices and education

• Assist with septic inspections

• GIS database development

• Aquatic invasive species (AIS) work as needed

Other

• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the District Administrator or Board of Managers

Minimum Requirements:


·         College student studying environmental related subjects

Desirable Training and Experience:

·         Monitoring experience preferred

·         Experience working with restoration activities and other Best Management Practices

·         Experience with agricultural practices
